Cajun prawns (or shrimp, as my American friends call them) that are packed with flavour, just the right amount of spice, and only take 10 minutes to whip up—now that's the kind of dish that dreams are made of! This recipe is bound to impress and will have the whole family coming back for more.
Best enjoyed with a cold beer or two!
What you need
Prawns, peeled and deveined, tails removed
Flour, for crumbing
2 eggs
2 cups (250ml) milk
2 cups panko crumbs
6 Tbsp Smokey Joe's Cajun seasoning
Vegetable oil, for frying
What to do
Heat the oil to 180°C.
In one bowl, whisk together flour and half of the Cajun seasoning.
In a second bowl, whisk eggs and milk.
In a third bowl, combine Panko breadcrumbs and the remaining Cajun seasoning.
First, coat prawns in the flour mixture, then dip them in the egg mixture.
Finally, coat with the Cajun Panko crumbs.
Fry prawns for 2-3 minutes (depending on size) until golden and crispy.
Use a metal slotted spoon to remove and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
Perfect served with a spiced or lemon aioli.
These prawns are also perfect for cooking in an air fryer. Not a fan of prawns? You can easily swap them for chicken!
