Cider Brined Turkey Breast

With christmas just around the corner, what would be better than a juicy smoked turkey breast, this is as equally good on a boneless Breast or a whole bird. cider brined & smoked Turkey is flavorful and so very juicy! Brined turkey breast combined with a savory sweet rub is perfect for christmas lunch


what you need

3 cups apple cider

2 cups water

1 cup apple cider vinegar

¼ cup salt

¼ cup brown sugar

¼ cup Worcestershire sauce

2 tbs fennel seeds

6 star anise

1 Tbs garlic powder

1 Tbs onion powder


to season the bird

Smokey Joe's Turkey rub


what to do

Combine all ingredients for the brine in a large bowl and whisk until the sugar and salt dissolve.

Submerge the turkey breast (or bird) in the brine. Cover and refrigerate for 8-12 hours.

Preheat your smoker to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C)

Apple wood goes great with this white meat.

Remove the turkey breast from the brine and pat dry.

Lightly rub with Olive Oil onto the turkey breast and coat well all over with the Smokey Joe's Turkey Rub.

Place the turkey breast on the smoker, close the lid, and smoke for approximately 3 hours or until the internal temperature of the meat reaches 165 degrees F. (75 degrees C).

Remove the turkey from the smoker. Cover lightly with foil, let rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
