Smokey Chipotle Hummus

Smokey, spicy, and packed with flavour, this Smokey Chipotle Hummus takes the classic dip to a whole new level. With a hit of heat and citrus from Smokey Joe’s Chipotle & Lime Rub, it’s the perfect balance of creamy, zesty, and smoky. Serve it up with warm pita, crisp veggies, or spread it on a sandwich for an extra kick!


What you need

  • 2 cans chickpeas, drained

  • ½ cup water

  • ¼ cup tahini

  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon of Smokey Joe's Chipotle & lime rub

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 100g roasted red bell peppers,

  • 6 sun-dried tomatoes, drained

  • ½ cup chopped coriander (cilantro)

  • sea salt, to taste

  • ground black pepper, to taste


What to do

  1. Place the chickpeas, water, tahini paste, lemon juice, olive oil, Smokey Joe’s Chipotle & Lime Rub, garlic, and cumin into the bowl of a food processor. Blend until smooth.

  2. Add the red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, cilantro, salt, and pepper to the food processor. Pulse until the ingredients are coarsely chopped into the hummus base.

  3. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Spread it around the plate, creating a hollow in the centre.

  4. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with Chipotle & Lime Rub and black sesame seeds before serving.


Serve with warm Turkish bread and fresh vegetable sticks like carrot, cucumber, celery, or capsicum for a simple and delicious snack or appetizer.
